Zhejiang proposes 146 technical advancement projects
For Zhejiang, the largest textile producing province in China, Huang Xianfa from Economic and Trade Commission of Zhejiang said that the province has proposed 146 technical advancement projects - estimated at RMB24 billion in total - to be undertaken this year in order to upgrade product structure, utilize equipment and promote market differentiation.
He added that the province has introduced an alert system on quota limitations and on chemical fiber output in order to enhance the competitive power of the textile industry.
Fujian has four main objectives
For Fujian, with 80% of its industrial output contributed by its three major textile clusters in Quanzhou, Changle and Xiamen, four main objectives have been set for the coming five years.
According to Chen Jianxin, Vice-President of Fujian Textile Industry Association, these objectives are: the fixed asset investment of chemical fiber sector to grow 150% to RMB40 billion; the annual output of labor force to grow 160% to RMB90,000 per person; five internationally-renowned brands, 40 key national brands, and 120 local brands to be built; and key enterprises to meet international environmental standards.
Mr Chen added that within the coming five years, the chemical fiber industry is expected to grow at 13% to 18% annually, the cotton spinning industry at 10% to 15%, the knitting industry at 15% to 20%, the dyeing and finishing industry at 13% to 18%, and the garment industry at 18% to 23%.
Henan sets to achieve further growth
Meanwhile, "Henan's textile industry is striving for a growth rate of 18.6% in sales income in the coming five years, with national ranking rising from the eighth to the seventh position," said Li Shuqin, Chairman of Henan Textile Engineering Association.
"We will also strive to uphold the cotton spinning sector and chemical fiber sector within the top three and top five positions respectively," he added.
Henan's textile industry is booming at 30% annually in recent years and is looking ahead for balanced and healthy growth.
"We also target to build 10 more research and development centers at the provincial level. And it is hope that the number of key enterprises with an annual income of RMB1 billion to increase to 20, with Zhengzhou as the focus of development," he continued.
Shangdong to focus on high-end products like home textiles
Shandong's textile industry accomplished RMB296.3 billion last year, with its cotton spinning and cotton weaving strengths ranking first in China, worsted spinning capacity at the second position, and dyeing and finishing at the third position.
Wang Zidai from Shandong's textile authority said the industry will be focusing more on high-end textile products with home textile as the key growth area. This year, the province will conduct several technical advancement projects related to environmentally friendly fiber, modified cotton yarn, and technical fabric.
Anhui to strengthen cotton production
For Anhui, benefiting from a shift of textile production from the coastal region to the inland, the province is seeing more new textile establishments. Recently, five textile companies from Shunde, Guangdong have moved their facilities into the province.
Yin Liming, Vice-President of Anhui Textile Industry Association, said that the province will continue to strengthen its cotton production, with the number of cotton spindles to rise from 2.86 million to 5 million by 2010. Moreover, the use of advanced equipment such as blowing-carding-drawing unit, high-end combing machine, autowinder and shuttleless loom will be promoted. It is hoped that the manufacturing of industrial-use fiber, industrial and decorative fabrics will provide new profits.
