Four color trends for autumn / winter 2010-2011 were identified at the Interstoff Asia Essential held last month (October) in Hong Kong. As an uncertain future looms, the coming fall seasons find sincerity in the collected past.

Embrace

This theme highlights a dreamlike mood with a soft and calm touch. The mind wanders as fanciful, childlike vision are bathed in a gentle wash of serenity. Diaphanous textures cocoon the feminine form and awaken the spirit. Captivated by reverie, we are embraced by surfaces that have been reborn with truth and sincerity, lighting our path toward the future.

The color palette is gentle and serene to evoke comfort and reverence, with pale neutrals and subdued pastels, accented with shadowed gray and taupe hues.

New world

Nature reclaims the urban landscape in a new ear. Man-made formations are replaced with natural elements of wind, fire, water and earth. Rugged and timeworn textures emerge, and hardworking and protective fabrics are used.

Industrial coated outerwear, felt wool, high-tech canvas, tough twill and drill, crackled leather and pigment dyed jersey are used to bring a juxtaposition of rural nature and urban legacies.

Anthology

Nomadic collecting with a connoisseur’s eye and artifacts are emphasized in this theme to pay homage to bygone times. Old and new memories mix to weave an entirely new tale.

Vintage and romantic colors are represented with saturated hues to give artful warm and cool tones.

Clandestine

A dusk mood is conveyed with this theme. Deep hues and rigid geometry clash with gothic curves that resemble a mysterious feeling at the city night.

Dandy darks and electric brights are used. Twilight darks blend with inky jewel tones, and is electrified with hints of bright and bold contrast.
