Sri Lanka's apparel exports grew 23.8% to US$304 million in the first half of 2010. The country*s Central Bank said that apparel exports to the United States were up 34% and to the European Union by 8%. Textile and apparel imports, key inputs for exported apparel, were up 33% to US$139 million.
Sri Lanka's aggregate exports increased 13.7% to US$3.6 billion in the first half of 2010, and imports expanded 42.1% amid an economic recovery, expanding the trade deficit by 108% to US$2.8 billion, official data show.
