The 2009 market survey recently announced by the Japan Chemical Fibers Association (JCFA) revealed production declines of chemical fibers in Japan and predicted growths in such countries as China and India.

The survey showed that Japan's total output of chemical fibers decreased 6% from the previous year in 2009, recording a historic low. Total production of nylon filament, polyester, acrylic fiber production of the country dropped to 682,000 tons in 2009. The 2009 nylon and polyester production decreased 34% and 33% respectively from the previous year.

The world market demand for fiber, however, will increase. The Association predicts chemical fiber consumption to reach 53.95 million tons by 2015, representing a 24% from the output level of 43.51 million tons registered in 2008. Growth rates in such countries as China and India will be highest in the world, it says.
