Steiger showed for the first time at the fair the new Gemini 2.130 GMF flat-knitting machine, with pneumatic cam control for high density knitting gauge E 12 to E 16, according to Carlo M.Corradi, Sales Director of Steiger. Steiger is a member of ITEMA Knitting.
This Swiss-engineered machine is assembled in China, and this allows Chinese users to purpose it in local currency.
"We had a good experience in China starting with a Gemini model, and now GMF and Libra models are assembled in the country," he said.
Assembled at the Chinese factory starting 2009, Libra 3.130 is the first compact flat-knitter with motorized yarn feeders. It is also a flexible machine suitable for various types of knitting techniques. Motorised yarn-carriers also allow a shorter time of carriage reversal.
In addition, Aries.3 is a top model for intarsia knitting, Mr Corradi continued. Due to the construction of the open carriage, the yarn fed directly from the top without tension could guarantee smooth knitting even with most delicate yarn. The motorized and synchronized yarn carries also offer great user flexibility to enhance productivity. A new option of "FAST" was introduced to the Aries.3 to increase knitting speed up to 15%-20%.
Market-wise, Mr Corradi had an improved projection for the second half of 2009, compared to that in the first half. Manufacturing activities of the knitting industry will be anticipated in 2010 in China and southeastern Asia.
More training has been given to Asian engineers in Switzerland in these few years to bring them to a higher level of skills and independency.
