"Quality-oriented products that are made environmentally friendly will have better possibilities in future to survive, whilst price-driven products are likely to face greater pressure," said Rainer Tostmann, General Manager, Asia Pacific, Tanatex Chemicals.
He commented that the business landscape will look different in the Asian textile and garment industry as the proportion of exports gets smaller and domestic markets gain importance. Notably, local markets are more often demanding higher quality than years ago. Intra-Asia garment business is likely to climb up, making competition even more intense. Consequently, cost control will be more crucial to Asian dye houses in the coming years.
Against this background, the company provides solutions that simplify the dyeing process with Tannex Noveco mineral-based auxiliaries for textile processing; Tannex Simplex bleaching stabilizer for cold pad-batch and pad steam bleaching with hydrogen peroxide; plus the Logic Dyeing Concept, which stands for less water and energy, one-bath, greige dyeing, isothermal and cellulosics.
Tanatex Chemicals also seeks to supply innovative, multi-purposed products for factory users to achieve quality effects with fewer items, which are also compatible with safety standards in China, Japan, Americas and Europe. Moreover, these products are able to achieve the effects in shorter time periods, reducing both costs and production time. In other words, it allows users to produce more in a given period of time and pick up the extra capacity left by the closed-down dye houses in Asia.
Another dimension of Tanatex Chemicals' product development lies in the improvement of finishing products that target to help users manufacture differentiated end-user products. These initiatives include Baypret Nano-PU, Bayscent, Edolan and Easy Stretch.
Tostmann explained that the nano material-based Baypret Nano-PU offers an extensive range of possibilities from stain release, color retention (e.g. on shirt collar), anti-pilling to OBA fastness improvement.
In five to eight years, he added, the total cost of using water (including wastewater treatment) might be substantially higher in China, making water-saving efforts strategic for corporations. "If you start step-by-step early, you can save money now, and the cost saved will be even higher when the cost of using water rise in the next few years. This is also an experience we have had when East Europe moved more and more west" he said.
