The second Techtextil India – International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens – to be held during October 10-12 in Mumbai, is expected to attract a large crowd from Asia as demand for technical textiles has built up in recent years.
Based on its user-oriented concept, Techtextil will show everything within the vertical process chain and its 12 application areas for users.
The technical textiles industry in India is estimated to grow at an annual rate of 12%, and reach a size of around 10 billion euros by 2013, according to the Textiles Committee report of 2008.
Textiles for automotive and home-related applications are the largest segments and main growth drivers, according to the organizer of Techtextil, Messe Frankfurt. And the sector with the highest growth potential is that for packaging, protective cover systems and etc, which had a 37% share and is growing at a rate of 13% per year. Another significant sector is clothtech, which has a share of 17% of the consumption chart.
Textiles used for environmental protection, recycling & waste disposal has a lower consumption, but is set to grow by about 15% in the next five years due to a greater awareness of environmental issues in India.
Techtextil India will feature a two-day conference on technical textiles and nonwovens, which will focus on new trends and developments in technical textile technology.
Techtextil India is supported by the Office of the Textile Commissioner, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
