American Apparel Inc reported an increase in net retail sales for 2009 Q3
American Apparel Inc reported net sales for the third quarter of 2009 of US$150.3 million, a 2.9% decrease from the same period of the previous year. American Apparel Inc is a vertically integrated manufacturer, distributor, and retailer of branded fashion basic apparel based in the USA.

Total retail sales increased 3.7% to US$101 million for 2009 Q3, whereas total wholesale sales declined 14.5% to US$40.2 million. Online consumer sales declined 12.5% to US$9.1 million. Net income during the period under review was US$4.2 million.

The company had 276 stores, with 50 net new stores during the last 12 months until September 2009.

Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Dov Charney, was optimistic with the company's development. "While it is still very early, we are encouraged by some indications pointing to the beginning of momentum in our sales. We believe that for the long term, our business remains on track as we continue to expand our brand's presence both in the U.S. and internationally," he said.
