Dow Corning Corporation introduced the DS-9000 Eco Repel, a new additive for flame-retardant textiles into the China market together with its wide range of textile chemicals recently.
Peter Wu, the company's Asia Technical Manager for Textiles, presented Dow Corning DS-9000 Eco Repel, a new eco-friendly multifunctional encapsulated silicone additive for technical textiles at the Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics this October. Jointly developed with Devan Chemicals, this technology allows apparel manufacturers to increase softness and hydrophobicity on existing flame-retardant finishes without impacting flame retardancy.
In addition, the company's greener GP 8000 Eco Softener saves up to 50 liters of water on every pair of jeans and provides faster processing time, using less energy to finish jeans, explained Hermia Min, Asia Commercial Manager, Textile & Performance Chemical Industries at Dow Corning.
A new set of silicone rubbers available to the China and Asian region through Dow Corning's Xiameter web-enabled business, Ms Min added. The Xiameter business is a no-frills model offering cost-effective products including textile softeners and more through streamlined services and a web-enabled order platform.
