The government has allowed Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) to issue country of origin (COO) certificates to apparel exporters from late March to help them reduce their time for shipment, according to the Commerce Ministry of Bangladesh.
Currently, the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) under the government issues such certificates to declare the products' manufacturing countries.
The authorities mentioned that the government is also considering empowering Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) to issue these certificates, according to local media reports.
