| Taking place from July 27 to 31 with 126,500 square meters of stand space fully booked, the ITMA Asia + CITME 2008 exhibition expects a flow of over 100,000 visitors |
Among CEMATEX countries, Germany will be the largest single contingent at the exhibition, with net space totaling over 9,100 square meters, followed by Italy with more than 7,200 square meters net, then Switzerland with 5,100 square meters net. The show's partner country, Japan, will occupy 3,000 square meters net, while Chinese exhibitors cover more than 33,000 square meters net.
In terms of major product categories, the yarn production and processing (spinning and winding) sector will occupy the largest stand space area, with a total of about 30,000 square meters net. Dyeing, finishing and printing machinery will cover more than 18,000 square meters net, with weaving machines and knitting and hosiery machines each taking up around 11,000 square meters net.

"European machinery manufacturers are acknowledged as the major players in driving technical innovation in textile production methods. Their depth of know-how, commitment to R&D and attention to quality in both equipment and end-product are well-deserved, and these characteristics make their exhibits the star attractions at any major show." said Maria Avery, CEMATEX Secretary General.
ITMA Asia + CITME is jointly owned by CEMATEX and a Chinese consortium made up of (CCPIT) Sub-council of Textile Industry, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, China Textile Machinery Association (CTMA), and China International Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC).
The show takes up 11 halls at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre, which was opened in 2001 in the city's Pudong business district.

Over 130 German enterprises are exhibiting
On an area of 9,000 square meters, some 130 German exhibitors will be presented.
The German pavilion initiated by VDMA will cover totally 3,200 square meters with 70 exhibitors.
The German textile machinery manufacturers exported goods of 3.9 billion euros last year, up 7.2% year-on-year. More than half of the German textile machinery exports worth 1.85 billion euros were shipped to Asia, of which about one-billion-euro machines were sold to China alone, said Thomas Waldmann, Managing Director of the Textile Machinery Association within the German Engineering Federation, VDMA.

The second strongest market to Germany is Turkey, which purchased textile machines of 408 million euros (+72%) from Germany last year, followed by India, importing German textile machines of 301 million euros (-18.3%); Italy, USA and Czech Republic.
Italian exhibitors cover 7,200 square meters
About 160 Italian exhibitors will fill up a total exhibition area of some 7,200 square meters, including 2,200 square meters of three Italian Clusters area, organized by Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT) and Italian Institute for Foreign Trade.
The three Italian Clusters, showcasing 76 Italian manufacturers, will be located in the spinning pavilion (W2), weaving pavilion (E6) and finishing machinery pavilion (E1).

ACIMIT's President, Paolo Banfi, said the number of Italian exhibitors and the surface area they will occupy are by far greater than for the ITMA Asia 2005 edition. "Chinese market represents the primary destination for our foreign sales (360 million euros in 2007, amounting to roughly 19% of total exports). The entire Asian continent is however, a major source of business for Italian machinery manufacturers, absorbing 43% of sales worldwide," he said.
Exports of Italian textile machinery directed to Asian markets reached a value of 793 million euros last year. Behind China as major trade partners were India, Pakistan and Iran.
French manufacturers look at specialty markets
The French textile machinery builders are well posited in the world market by offering high-tech machinery for high-tech specialty markets, rather than competing on mass production applications, according to Bruno Ameline, President, and Evelyne Cholet, Secretary General of the French Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association (UCMTF).

France accounts for close to 7% of the worldwide textile machinery, excluding the production of Chinese manufacturers for the local market. Together the 35 French manufacturers' annual exports exceed one billion euros (US$1.5 billion). The French enterprises are often specialized in particular sectors or technologies aiming at niche markets to address customers' needs and be their long term partners.
Large number of Indian visitors expected
Approximately 1,300 overseas visitors have registered while over 10,000 Chinese visitors are confirmed, according to spokesperson of the China International Exhibition Centre Group Corporation (CIEC), Anne Zheng.
India will provide the largest single international contingent as roadshows to promote ITMA Asia + CITME were held in eight major Indian textile centers. Over 2,000 Indian visitors are expected to attend the event, according to Ms Zheng.
In addition to the confirmed delegations from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Vietnam, more groups are expected to come from governments or associations of Indonesia, Turkmenistan and Egypt.
