Ciba Specialty Chemicals Introducing High IQ
For the textile industry, Ciba Specialty Chemicals manufactures a broad range of chemical and dye products that enhance the performance properties and color of finished textiles and materials. It serves more than 10,000 customers in 80 countries.
The new High IQ brand encompasses a number of intelligent effects and effect combinations | The month June is marking the launch of the world's first comprehensive global branding program for innovative, value-adding colors and effects that meet consumer needs. "High IQ", launched by Ciba, encompasses a number of intelligent effects, including Lasting Color, Cool Comfort, Sun Protection, Freshness and Easy Care.
High IQ is aimed at helping key decision-makers in the textile value chain to source garments that provide consistently high quality, performance and value for money.
The program will help dyeing and finishing mills to produce fabric to clearly define specifications. Hangtags carrying concise benefit statements will be distributed free of charge to licensed mills and/or garment makers for all fabrics that conform to the specifications. High IQ ensures that garments carrying the new hangtag consistently meet top performance standards.
Previously, Ciba Specialty Chemicals has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its textile effects business to Huntsman Corporation.
Clariant A new concept for continuous dyeing
Clariant, a key supplier in the field of specialty chemicals, has developed the new Drimaren HF-CD ternary combination to solve continuous dyeing problems on cotton. Typically the problems of tailing, two-sidedness, poor laboratory to bulk reproducibility, and bulk continuity, are well known issues, especially in pale to medium depths of shade. In addition, poor pad liquor stability is also a concern. This new range of dyestuffs has the same affinity factors and has both high reactivity and good washing off properties which enables it to solve all of these continuous dyeing problems.
Clariant has more than 135 years' experience in the textile business, offering textile chemicals and dyes together with comprehensive expertise and services.
It is represented on five continents with over 100 group companies, and employs about 23,000 people. Headquartered in Muttenz near Basel, it generated sales of around CHF 8.2 billion in 2005. Its businesses are organized in five divisions: textile, leather & paper chemicals, pigments & additives, functional chemicals, life science chemicals and masterbatches.
TWIN C Power heald frame | Grob Horgen Heald frame and warp stop motion
Grob Horgen's TWIN C Power heald frame incorporates aluminum profiles and high performance carbon fibers, and is resistant to the loads produced by weaving machines at high operating speeds, catering to the stringent requirement of shedding motions. The heald frame features: maximized frame stave bending strength a design with two high-performance carbon profiles in the same frame stave (patent pending) unlimited use of the performances potential of all types of shedding motions wide weaving widths without the need of intermediate supports optimized functionality with heald vibration dampening system compatibility with commonly-known automatic drawing-in machines
Another product, Warp Stop Motion KFW 5600, facilitates a geometry for warp yarn guidance with precise and gentle monitoring of individual ends. A modular design provides multiple execution alternatives ranging from a cost effective model to a model with enhanced electronics. Individual models can be equipped with either a single function connecting part or a multiple function connecting part, providing optical thread breakage indication with Programmable- Signal-Processor (PSP) — adaptable to both the right and left weaving machine sides according to requirements.
Habasit Transmission belts, spindle tapes and conveyor belts
Yarn manufacturing requires a wide range of power transmission belts, spindle tapes and conveyor belts. Habasit's TC-tangential- and flat belts are suitable for high speed machines and can cope with small pulley diameters. Combining the benefits of polyamide and aramid belts, they save energy because they are more flexible in longitudinal direction than the traditional polyamide power transmission belts. They have good reverse bending properties as well as a high quality friction cover and are easily joined without glue.
"Flexproof" finger joints | Employing "Flexproof" finger joints, they also provide a high and uniform internal adhesion between the different layers.
W-Polyester spindle tapes are suitable for ring spinning frames with spindle speeds above 20,000 rpm because of the knocking free Flexproof joining system. There is no disturbing fiber fly accumulation due to the permanently antistatic properties and the impregnated friction covers.
W-8 spindle tapes with four spindles drives the energy consumption on the spinning machine up to 7% if compared with machines equipped with traditional polyamide spindle tapes.
Founded in 1946, Habasit is one of the leading companies in the belting business for the textile, wood, paper, food, automotive industries and materials handling. It has 26 affiliated companies, in more than 70 countries, and more than 2200 employees with a turnover of CFH 450 million in 2004.

RSB-D 40 autoleveller drawframe | With the new RSB-D 40 autoleveller drawframe and the SB-D 40 drawframe without levelling, Rieter has achieved a quantum leap in drawframe technology with delivery speeds up to 1100 m/min. Improved accuracy in scanning, enhanced levelling dynamics and novel drafting system suction significantly improve the quality.
Production rates of up to 1,100m/min are achieved in mill operations with this new generation of drawframes. Delivery speeds can be raised by some 10% for all materials.
A revolutionary feature is the CLEANcoil sliver coiler, which enables man-made fiber slivers to be coiled with hitherto unequaled running times without cleaning.
AUTOset, the automatic setting of the autoleveller saves many manual tests in the laboratory. The spectrogram fault diagnosis system AUTOhelp shows failure reasons in gearing plans on the machine display and guarantees quick troubleshooting. Energy consumption is reduced up to 10% compared to the predecessor. Finally an electronic instruction manual, including videos, ensures user-friendliness of the drawframe.

Textilcolor Textile auxiliaries for pretreatment, dyeing and finishing, and other special applications
Textilcolor AG offers competent, individual services to customers in 42 countries. The laboratories for technical development and application located in Sevelen are equipped with the latest technological instruments. Technicians offer quick and efficient solutions to customers problems.
The product range of Textilcolor includes textile auxiliaries for pretreatment, dyeing and finishing, and auxiliaries for special applications.
Headquarters of Textilcolor | One of the latest products is Softycon ASH: a functional silicone microemulsion based on a weakly cationic amino-glycol-modified polysiloxane. Softycon ASH gives the textile material a soft handle with good elastic resilience, and with its hydrophilic character it supports the moisture transport away from the skin through the textile. The wearing comfort of sports and leisure wear is increased, especially when the textile is moisted.
Softycon ASH is washproof and maintains its hydrophilic effect after several washing cycles. In case of cellulose fibers the hydrophilicity is not negatively affected. Due to the good alkali stability up to pH 10 and because of the good running stability and stability to shearing forces the product offers a high process safety. Processing costs caused by the stripping of the silicone finish will not arise because overdyeing of Softycon ASH is possible. The product can be applied by the exhaust and the padding method.
