	China Plastic & Rubber Journal Dec 2011 / Jan 2012 Issue Sustainable development is a hot topic around the world nowadays. In various industries, such as construction, food packaging, automotive, new energy and so on, plastics have shown its special features of helping to reduce energy consumption while being recyclable. Sustainability also received attention from the plastics processing machinery sector. More efficient and energy saving technologies have been developed. The demand for high-performance thin films from the food, beverage and new energy industries has fueled the rapid development of the multilayer co-extrusion technology. Some Chinese firms have put enormous effort in developing auxiliary equipment for applications in extrusion machine, improving the overall technological level of extrusion machinery in the country.

	Chinamac Journal Dec 2011 / Jan 2012 Issue China’s economy is developing on a steady and healthy track, creating opportunities and room for the constant development of the machine tool industry, as different industries in the national economy undergo restructuring and upgrading. Looking ahead, China has to put in more efforts in the development of eco-friendly and intelligent machine tools, emphasize customization and enhance the degree of hardware and software integration of machine tools. The prospect of China’s cutting tool industry is also promising, yet the industry should remain market-oriented. Throughout the 10 years, the Chinese textile and apparel industry has strengthened its status as a manufacturing powerhouse, while serving an expanding domestic market. This edition of ATA reviews the development of the Chinese textile industry in WTO and the impact on its neighboring manufacturing sectors in Asia. Weavers have been facing soaring raw material prices and labor costs. Recognizing their needs, weaving machinery suppliers have introduced new technologies as options for solutions. “Textile Technology Feature” presents some products that appeal to today’s weavers.
